Women Lead to Excellence (WL2X) Summit 2019

On March 14th, WL2X hosted their first summit and the theme was to "Inspire Women At All Levels To Lead". The summit featred keynote speeches by Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf and TaskTabbit Founder Leah Busque, an executive presentation by our own Mary O'Hara and a panel of women who sit on Blue Shield's Board of Directors. #80forOakland campaign launches ongoing community commitment.

When Blue Shield of California moves its headquarters and 1,200 of its employees to Oakland in late 2019, the company already will have made a positive mark on the community. As part of its 80th anniversary, Blue Shield has launched the “#80forOakland” campaign, which will conduct 80 community service or discovery activities in Oakland prior to the official headquarters’ opening at 601 City Center.Check out the full story.

Blue Shield of California and the American Heart Association Launch Self-Service Blood Pressure Kiosk at Roots Community Clinic

Blue Shield of California and the American Heart Association launched a new free self-service blood pressure kiosk for East Oakland residents at the Roots Community Clinic. Hypertension impacts 20 percent of the patients at the clinic, which is 60 percent higher than the national average.
