improving national hypertension control rates and reducing disparities.

Blue Shield was invited to be a founding member because of our success with the Right Care Initiative in California. Right Care was started 10 years ago in San Diego, where the heart attack rate has dropped 25% faster than in the rest of California because of the initiative’s sharing of best practices in hypertension and diabetes control.

“Working together with the Roundtable members to share our learnings about hypertension and extend best practices across the country will save literally thousands of lives,” said Terry Gilliland, executive vice president of Healthcare Quality and Affordability at Blue Shield of California. “We are proud to be a founding member of the Roundtable, whose work is closely aligned with our mission of providing care worthy of our family and friends and sustainably affordable.”
