CHULA VISTA, Calif. (Oct. 29, 2026) – Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan and Metropolitan Area Advisory Committee on Anti-Poverty of San Diego County (MAAC) announced they will open a new Neighborhood Resource Center at MAAC’s Seniors on Broadway apartment community in Chula Vista. The new center will be Blue Shield Promise’s first Neighborhood Resource Center in San Diego County.

The Blue Shield Promise Neighborhood Resource Center at Seniors on Broadway will be a welcoming place where residents and community members can access a range of health and social services, including:

  • Assistance with Medi-Cal and CalFresh enrollment and renewals
  • Connections to essential services such as food assistance, employment resources, transportation, and education programs
  • Health and fitness classes
  • Social and enrichment activities

Located on the ground floor of MAAC’s Seniors on Broadway community, the center will bring resources closer to the people and neighborhoods it is intended to serve.

“At MAAC, we believe access starts with meeting people where they are,” said Adolfo Ventura, interim president and CEO of MAAC. “This partnership with Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan allows us to bring resources directly into the community, creating a place where people can connect with support, build healthier futures, and find new opportunities to thrive.”

The new center builds on MAAC’s more than 60 years of working alongside San Diego County communities to connect individuals and families with resources and opportunities that strengthen their health, economic well-being, and quality of life.

“When trusted organizations come together, we can make a real difference in people's lives,” said Kristen Cerf, president and CEO of Blue Shield Promise. “MAAC's deep roots in the community and commitment to serving families make it an ideal partner as we expand access to resources and support in San Diego. We're excited to create a welcoming space where residents and community members can connect with services that support their health and well-being.”

The Neighborhood Resource Center is expected to open in 2027. Additional information about services, programs, and hours will be shared ahead of the opening.
