Savoy Magazine, the leading African American business and lifestyle publication, recently announced its Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America and recognized Blue Shield’s Hope Scott in this prestigious group of leaders.

In an exclusive interview with Savoy, Blue Shield Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary Scott shared stories about her early years in corporate America, the challenges she faced as a working parent, and how lessons learned from managers over the years helped her become an effective leader.
“Throughout my entire life, people underestimate me because I am not boisterous, out there, coming in and saying, ‘This is how we’re going to do it,’” Scott says. “People tend to be completely stunned when I finally start talking and doing things, taking charge and organizing.”
Honorees were selected based on their influence, scholastic achievement, career growth, community outreach, and recognition. The selection committee received more than 500 nominations, and Scott was among just over 300 who were recognized on this year’s list.
