We applaud Gov. Gavin Newsom for his commitment to improving California’s healthcare infrastructure. The proposal for an Office of Health Care Affordability and a statewide health information exchange for patient records will help lower costs and improve quality of care and patient safety. These investments will also better support physicians, hospitals and other medical providers deal with the pandemic and other pressures, such as racial inequities.
This is an opportunity for California to be a leader in bringing health care into the digital age, giving our providers the critical patient information at their fingertips when they deliver care. These are critical steps in transforming our fragmented and siloed healthcare system into one that delivers quality, consistent and affordable care to all Californians.
