Blue Shield of California Remembers Bernard Tyson

Sudden passing of Kaiser Permanente Chairman and CEO is a huge loss to health care industry

OAKLAND, Calif. (November 10, 2019) – Blue Shield of California CEO Paul Markovich issued the following statement regarding the death of Kaiser Permanente CEO Bernard Tyson: 

“We at Blue Shield of California were shocked and saddened to learn of the unexpected passing of Bernard Tyson, chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente.  Bernard was a mission driven leader and a true champion for increasing access to affordable health care. He also passionately advocated for diversity and inclusion in the workplace and served as a role model and mentor to many. We send our deepest condolences to the Tyson family and to the Kaiser family that Bernard so eloquently led.”
