Blue Shield of California Announces Jeffrey Bailet as Executive Vice President of Health Care Quality and Affordability

SAN FRANCISCO (January 3, 2017) --- Jeffrey Bailet, M.D., has joined Blue Shield of California as executive vice president of Health Care Quality and Affordability. He will be responsible for the management and performance of the nonprofit health plan’s Network Management, Health Care Services and Wellvolution® teams.

Bailet has more than 20 years of health care experience; most recently as executive vice president at Aurora Health Care and president of Aurora Health Medical Group in Milwaukee, Wis. He joined Aurora in 2003 and was appointed president of the  medical group in 2006.

As a member of the senior leadership team at Aurora Health Care, Bailet participated in the development of the strategic and operational direction for the organization. He supported 1,800 physicians and 900 advance practice clinicians across 180 clinics and 15 hospitals in Wisconsin and northern Illinois as president of Aurora Health Care Medical Group.

Bailet previously served as the chief executive officer at Associated Healthcare Consultants and president of Northwest Specialty Physicians.

Bailet was recently appointed chair of the executive committee of AMGA (formerly the American Medical Group Association). He also serves on the U.S. Government Accountability Office's Physician-Focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee.

Bailet is a board-certified otolaryngologist and began practicing as an ear, nose and throat specialist and surgeon in 1993.

He is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine, and completed his residency in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at UCLA Medical Center. He also holds a M.S.P.H. in Environmental Health from the University of Washington School of Public Health and Community  Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the American College of Surgeons.
