Margaret Anderson Joins Blue Shield of California as Vice President and General Manager for Senior Markets

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (August 8, 2016) --- Margaret Anderson has joined Blue Shield of California as vice president and general manager for Senior Markets. She will be responsible for strategic direction, business planning, budget management and membership growth of the health plan’s Senior Markets business.

Anderson has more than 20 years of health care experience. She most recently served as regional president of Medicare at WellCare Health Plans, where she led the company’s Medicare operations in California, Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi, and was responsible for more than $1 billion in annual revenue.

Prior to WellCare Health Plans, Anderson worked in both the Commercial and Government markets at HealthNow, an independent member of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.

“Margaret has a track record of building and leading strong teams that get results,” said David Fields, executive vice president of Markets. “Her experience driving rapid, scalable growth and profitability will help build on the success of our Senior Markets.” Anderson will report to Fields.
