Matt Nye Joins Blue Shield of California as Vice President of Pharmacy Services

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (June 16, 2015) --- Matt Nye, Pharm.D., has joined Blue Shield of California as vice president of Pharmacy Services. He will be responsible for driving pharmacy benefit and specialty drug management programs for Blue Shield’s 3.5 million members, as well as providing oversight for the provision of safe, effective and efficient use of medications.

Nye has more than 30 years of healthcare industry experience in California. During that time, he worked in a variety of local, regional and national positions managing pharmacy benefits and support services for Kaiser Permanente and Allergan, Inc. Most recently, he served as vice president of Pharmacy Care Support Services at Kaiser Permanente, where he led a national team responsible for drug information, formulary management, cost and quality inititatives, as well as pharmaeconomic and outcome research.

“In addition to his extensive experience, Matt has a track record of building and leading strong teams that get results,” said Marcus Thygeson, M.D., M.P.H., senior vice president and chief health officer. “His talent, reputation and expertise in partnering with providers to improve pharmaceutical management make him a great asset to Blue Shield and the pharmacy organization.” Nye will report to Thygeson.
