SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 9, 2015) --- Blue Shield of California continues to demonstrate its commitment to innovation and growth with the promotion of two experienced professionals to its senior management team:

Kristen Miranda has been appointed to senior vice president of Strategic Partnerships and Innovation. Miranda will continue to lead Blue Shield’s Accountable Care Organization (ACO) strategy. Since joining Blue Shield as vice president of Provider Network Management in 2006, Miranda has managed the development of Blue Shield’s collaborations with health systems and medical groups across California. She led the creation of an industry-leading ACO network and program that spans 22 HMO, eight PPO and three Medicare ACOs.

“Under Kristen’s leadership, Blue Shield’s ACO program delivers terrific results annually and is an example of what we can accomplish when we work collaboratively with providers,” said Juan Davila, executive vice president of Health Care Quality and Affordability. Miranda reports to Davila.

Amy Yao has been promoted to senior vice president and will continue to serve as chief actuary. As Chief Actuary, Yao oversees the actuarial department and provides analytical support across the business.
