Coronavirus Captive: How a Blue Shield Employee Endured Two Weeks on a Cruise Ship Amid a Health Scare

Blue Shield of California's Christina Kerby took a cruise in Southeast Asia. Then the Coronavirus swept the region

Christina Kerby planned for more than a year to take her mother on a month-long cruise on the Holland American Line's Westerdam. She arrived in Hong Kong on Feb. 1 and prepared for a two-week leg through the South China Sea.

Then, the Coronavirus hit. The boat was denied entry at its next port, even though there were no cases reported on the ship.

The Westerdam and Kerby's story gained national attention. The boat finally docked off Cambodia yesterday. It's 1,500 passengers and crew were clear of the virus.
